1st Annual Community Health Worker Innovations Summit :: Nov 11-12, 2020

The NYU Langone Health Community Health Worker Research & Resource Center and the NYU-CUNY Prevention Resource Center is excited to announce that registration for the 1st Annual Community Health Worker Innovations Summit is now open! Jointly hosted by NYU Langone’s Community Health Worker Research & Resource Center and the NYU-CUNY Prevention Research Center, the event will be held virtually on November 11-12, 2020. The theme of our inaugural summit is Making the Model Last - Current and Future Sustainability Strategies for a Community Health Worker Workforce.

The event will feature a keynote dialogue at 10 AM on November 11th between Dr. Sarah Redding, Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Pathways Community HUB Institute, and Dr. Nadia Islam, Associate Professor in the Department of Population Health, NYU Grossman School of Medicine. For more than 30 years, Dr. Redding has worked with community health workers across the country, developing educational programs and providing training. Dr. Islam leads several NIH- and CDC-funded community health worker studies on chronic disease prevention and management in diverse communities and has published widely on the role of CHWs in improving health.

Over the course of three panel sessions, we will hear about current trends in CHW payment models, the roles of CHWs in chronic disease management and prevention, and how public systems are leading the way on CHW initiatives. Speakers include payers, researchers, community health workers, and policymakers from a wide range of health care, social services, and academic institutions such as Healthfirst, AIRnyc, Health + Hospitals, Baltimore Health Corps, and Make the Road New York.
