Southwest | PA CHW Course (SW12)

Course Description

The PA AHEC 100-hour training is an accredited program designed to provide the core competencies needed for work in community-based and healthcare settings. Community health workers are fundamental in the connections between communities, the people who live there, and their health. Completion of this course meets Pennsylvania Certification Board educational requirements to become a Certified Community Health Worker in PA. Classes will take place on Mondays and Friday from 9:00am - 1:00pm and begin Monday, April 29, 2024 and run for 10 weeks (pending holidays and weather). Last day of the course will be July 12, 2024. This course is being held virtually via Zoom. Through this course you’ll learn skills like motivational interviewing, communication, care coordination, ethics and preventative care, as well as hear from visiting presenters. Obtain certification in: • Mental Health First Aid • CPR/First Aid and AED • Mandated Reporter IMPORTANT INFO: • Course registration is a 2-step process. Apply + Register. Upon review you will be contacted via email to complete the CHW Course Registration Form. • If taking this course to work towards CCHW, please be aware those seeking this certification must be 18 and have a GED or high school diploma for CHW certification in PA. • On the booking page, please check whether you or your organization will be invoiced for the course tuition of $1,500.
